BG women’s basketball wins on the road against Colorado State

In the Falcons final non-conference game, Chrissy Steffen the team to a 70-57 victory over the Rams on Saturday.

Steffen had a career-high 25 points in the game, along with seven rebounds, four assists and three steals. Freshman Jasmine Matthews also had season bests with 12 points and four three-point shots.

The Falcons led early with a layup from Alexis Rogers, but Colorado State took a nine point run after that. Midway through the first half, senior Jessica Slagle gained momentum for BG with a driving layup, but they still trailed the Rams 13-4.

After Miller took a timeout, the Falcons chipped away at the Ram's lead. Jillian Halfhill hit a three pointer that started an 8-0 run. Back on a roll, BG led the game into the locker rooms 32-25 at the half.

Back on the court, BG shut down every CSU attempt to regain the lead.

The Ram's Sam Martin and Meghan Heimstra both had 12 points on the game.

This win was a different win, as coach Miller returned to FortCollins. Miller was the associate head coach for the Rams for three years, before starting his career with the Falcons in 2001.
